Mouawia Essekelli

Mr. Mouawia Essekelli is currently the Managing Director and Executive Board Member of Attijariwafa bank Egypt. Mr. Mouawia brings with him 30 years of banking experience in variety of fields. In March 2020 until March 2023, Mr. Mouawia held the position of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Interbank Electronic Payment Center. He was also a member of the Board of Directors in five subsidiaries of Attijariwafa bank Group and a member of the Moroccan Group for Mobile Payments. Since the beginning of his Journey with Attijariwafa Bank Group in 2005, he has been playing a pivotal role in managing Group subsidiaries in Morocco and Europe. In November 2021, he was appointed as CEO at Wafacash (A fully owned subsidiary of Attijariwafa bank specialized in money transfer, payments and financial services for low-income segment).

In March 2020, he held a position of Deputy Managing Director of Specialized Financing Subsidiaries of Attijariwafa bank In October 2014, he was designated as Deputy Managing Director of Group Transactional Banking whereby he attained 6 years of experience in Global Transactional Banking. In September 2008, he was appointed as Managing Director and Board Member at Attijariwafa bank Europe (France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and London with a network of 73 branches). Throughout his prolonged experience, Mr. Mouawia has successfully managed prominent and large projects, in addition to his expertise in the field of Digital Transformation and Change Management. Mr. Mouawia holds a master degree of Engineering from Ecole Centrale de Paris.
