Dr. Burton, born in October 1968, holds an Engineering degree in Electronics and Communications, an MBA in Marketing, and was awarded a Doctorate in Business Administration from Leeds University in 2014. His research resulted in the elaboration of the Self Innovative Strategic Model ensuring effective management in the Electronic Communications Industry in Mauritius.

He has over 15 years of experience in the payment industry, working with several Service Providers in different roles and responsibilities. Under his leadership, several key projects have been initiated to propel stakeholders and customers towards meeting their growth objectives and dynamic market demands.

He currently holds the position of Regional Sales Director for the HPS group for English-speaking Africa and the Indian Ocean. He is heavily involved in the development of national and regional payment platforms to empower major Economies and Banks in Africa to embrace the digital divide and meet the financial inclusion guidelines set for the continent.

Dr. Burton also served as the CEO of a government-owned private institution and chaired the National ICT Strategic Plan (NICTSP) for Mauritius from 2007 to 2011.
