With over two decades of experience in financial services and payments, Martin Grunewald has acquired a deep understanding and knowledge of South Africa’s payments landscape relating to modernisation, digital identity, banking operations and general banking. A member of BankservAfrica’s Executive Committee and in his current role as the Chief Customer Officer, Martin is responsible for all customer engagements as well as the development of new markets for emerging products, such as Digital Identity. Martin has formerly held the role as the Chief Business Officer and oversaw the organisation’s business development, product lifecycle and strategic partnerships.
Some of Martin’s career highlights include driving the complete modernisation implementation, business re-engineering, achieving balanced scorecards and championing innovative digital systems across the relevant environments. Martin has participated at various payments and financial services conferences globally as a subject matter expert on industry topics for payments modernisation in Africa, national payment system design and digital identity.
